Located in the Palace district in Budapest and a former palace, Hotel Palazzo Zichy is a four star hotel equipped with 80 contemporary rooms. The facade and interior of the hotel showcases the preserved beauty of the old mansion built for the famous Hungarian noble, Count Nándor Zichy and for his family.

Upon arrival the hotel staff were extremely friendly. As we arrived a little early prior to check-in and our room was still being made, they showed us to the complimentary coffee and tea lounge in the lobby where we had a choice of a variety of teas and coffees to enjoy whilst we waited.

The superior room had a large twin bed, a walk in shower, 39” flat screen TV and a blu-ray player with smart functions. We received a complimentary bottle of sparkling wine and chocolates on our desk which all made our welcome that much nicer.

Inclusive in our stay was also high-speed Wifi internet, access to the guest office, and a lavish buffet breakfast that featured hot dishes, cold cuts and cheese plates, salmon, sparkling wine, grilled and fresh vegetables, a selection of cut and whole fruits as well as locally baked bakery products that tasted extremely fresh!

The lobby bar which had complimentary tea, coffee and mineral water until 5pm also turned into a bar in the latter part of the evening. With an extensive list of cocktails and wine along with daily newspapers, it was the perfect place to sit back and relax after a long day of exploring the city.

Hotel Palazzo Zichy also has free unlimited access to a sauna and gym for those who still want to keep in shape over the holidays.  The hotel was surrounded by restaurants and bars and it was extremely convenient to walk to the main attractions from where we were staying which made the stay all that more relaxing.

For anyone travelling to Budapest or looking for a staycation there, I would definitely recommend Hotel Palazzo Zichy. Not only were all the staff very accommodating, but the whole ambience of the hotel and interior of the room was somewhere I would definitely want to come back to.
