AMANDARI (link) (instagram) Location: Jalan Raya Kedewatan, Ubud Year built: September 1989. Architect: Peter Muller from Sydney, Australia Ethos: modern Balinese village, located around terraces and the only resort located close to a temple Bali is like an oasis for the senses – the scenery, the people, the food, and the pace, each have their own distinct, unique qualities, but together, act as a respite for the mind and body. AMANKILA

AMANKILA (link) (instagram) My latest escape has taken me to Bali, where I got to relax at the closest thing to paradise – Amankila resort in Manggis, Bali just off the east coast of the archipelago. Amankila means ‘peaceful hill’, which describes the resort in the most minimal way. Built in March 1992 by architect Ed Tuttle, the resort was inspired by the palaces of Ujung and Tirtagangga. Each suite is built like a beach house and is connected with pathways, each suite elevated on stilts to maximize sea views. It overlooks the Lombok Strait and everywhere you turn is a picturesque moment. The resort is a perfect mix of modern...

Make sure you get your visa first before booking your flight since there are different fees, for example, there is a minimum spend each day per visitor, or if you’re traveling by car, certain permits are required to go through certain areas. Because I stayed at AMANKORA, the...

ROYAL PHUKET MARINA

ROYAL PHUKET MARINA (link) (instagram) The Royal Phuket Marina was like a home away from home in Phuket. Literally, because it’s an extended stay experience with a minimum of one month stay at its properties. (Get around this time minimum by booking through Air Bnb.) Located on the east coast of Phuket, the Royal Phuket Marina is right on the waters, that gives me the same feeling as a town center. There’s a square, restaurants, bars, and a great kid’s club, and it’s all a couple hours of sailing away to the beautiful beach areas of Krabi, Phang Nga Bay, Koh Phi Phi, and the Similan Islands. All properties have waterfront vi...
