After the first Maldives destination with my son, we headed to the One & Only Resort Reethi Rah, an hour boat ride away from the airport. It’s a beautiful resort located on the Indian Ocean with white sand and blue lagoons. The award-winning resort offers wonderful service in a great location with plenty to do should you find R&R in your villa a little too relaxing. Upon arrival, we were already brainstorming different ideas but heard that the sea turtle snorkeling was not to be missed. The sea turtles are really fun creatures to spot, and if you’re lucky, you’ll even find them wandering around on the property.

The food varieties were endless and are tailored to everyone’s needs. At the main restaurant, there is Italian, French, and Arabic cuisine on the menu. We chose to eat at their great Japanese restaurant, with tasty options for both me and mini me. Every morning, we were greeted with a huge selection at the breakfast buffet, with other nice options a la carte if you don’t find what you’re looking for at the buffet. In the afternoon, we took ice cream breaks at the Rah Bar for their amazing homemade ice cream and sorbet. I couldn’t get enough of the salted caramel and coconut sorbet. This is a must for adults and kids! I also got a chance to escape to the spa run by Espa, which has a spacious relaxing area and glass steam and sauna rooms that overlook the courtyard lounge area. While I got a massage, Jared was off at the kids club doing fun, thoughtful activities conducted by staff. They were extremely kid friendly, genuine, with great, infectious energy.

I highly recommend this resort for families and couples alike since they’re so accommodating. On another day, I hung out on the beach wth my son and spent the afternoon kayaking and paddle boarding. There are 12 beaches and 40 pools around the island resort, so you have a variety of water to match the mood. After a great few days with Jared, we ended with a champagne sunset boat trip on a catamaran. We didn’t drink the champagne of course but it was extremely relaxing, and the perfect time to reflect on our new vacation memories as we floated off into the dayglo orange skies.
