SAINT TROPEZ, SOUTH OF FRANCE

Of all the islands in the French Riviera, St. Tropez is probably the most popular place to visit in the south of France. Known as a hot spot for celebrities, the food, the vibe, and the parties are what draw people in and keep them coming back year after year. It’s exceptionally busy during the summer months, but the idyllic architecture and endless blue skies are worth the trip alone. The waterfront is a great place to have an afternoon stroll until you find a cafe to have a bite and a coffee with the daily paper. There are also plenty of shops to find handmade goods or pop into the fish market for fresh, local seafood. Or when...

SAILING, SOUTH OF FRANCE

The best to experience the French Riviera is hands down sailing. I didn’t understand it before, but after experiencing the deep blue waters and freedom of traveling by sailboat, the allure of being the captain of your own boat and going wherever you please whenever you want has stuck with me. It’s the best way to get around the islands and see the sights sans crowds of other people. Nobody else is infringing on your experience. It’s just you, sailboat, and the open seas. Renting a sailboat is quick and easy or you can charter a yacht. Meals on board are typically simple but using the freshest ingredients from the local areas, ...

PORQUEROLLES, SOUTH OF FRANCE

Another island in the Îles d’Hyères is Porquerolles, located close to Port-Cros. This island is another picturesque escape surrounded by robust cliffs and tranquil beaches. There are more options for accommodation on this island, which makes it much more accessible but just as scenic. During high season, the island is a respite to over 8000 visitors. Travel is similar to Port-Cros as you need to take a ferry or boat ride to get to the island. Once you arrive, a large handful of delicious restaurants and cute houses welcome you. The beauty of the island is having a choice between travelling by land or sea. Whether you’re exp...

PORT-CROS, SOUTH OF FRANCE

HOTEL LE MANOIR DE PORT-CROS (link) I decided to spend the rest of my summer in the Mediterranean for a nice way to spend some time in the sun and to stay away from the city. My first stop was to Port-Cros, a French island in the Mediterranean that is part of the Îles d’Hyères. The island’s warm weather is what attracts visitors year round. It’s a very cute and charming island that is just a boat ride away from the marina. There are ferries that run relatively frequently or you can rent a private boat to suit your preferences. My stay was at the Hotel Le Manoir, which was a nice backdrop to the quaint island. It was perfect...

JA MANAFARU

JA MANAFARU (link) I’m all about the villa life in the Maldives, so Jared and I were in for a treat when we stayed at Ja Manafaru. After a 75 minute seaplane ride from the airport to the island, we arrived to the island, which is the last resort before the end of the Maldivian waters. The island is kept as natural as possible – they don’t pump or redistribute sand, with no plans to expand the island. Friendly staff greeted us, and we were ready to explore the property. The entire island is engulfed by soft sand, and it takes about 20 mintues to walk around the entire island. Staff are relaxed and great with kids and have an in...
