As classy and posh as Paris goes, there is also very cool and chic side of it. Le Roch Hotel & Spa is one fine example. Part of the Design Hotel group, tucked behind the small Rue St Roch, you barely notice this boutique hotel in the heart of the city. The hotel is really very hidden, but the giveaway is there are always 2 very well-dressed men standing at the door to meet and greet you. Redesigned by architect Vincent Bastie, taking a fading public building and transformed it into a neighborhood classic ; Le Roch’s 37 guestrooms and suites feature unique décor by French designer Sarah Lavoine.
I particularly like the courtyard garden of the hotel, it was a little cold to have breakfast or a drink outside but you can see how charming it is. Interior designer Sarah turned to a soft, pastel-hued palette, simple lines, authentic materials, and the elegance of a timeless design.
Breakfast was full of healthy choices- juices, fruits, hot dishes you can order (you have to ask the waiter), and lots of breads and cereals. Enjoying breakfast on these velvet sofas under the transparent glass ceiling was pure joy.
I was super lucky to have a room with a private hammam steam bath, it was perfect for me during my stay. I had a very stubborn flu, blocked nose and literally coughing my lungs out- this private hammam steam bath in the room was like a saviour to help me recover quicker, or at least be able to sleep a bit better at night. On top of that, the room has flat-screen televisions, a Marshall speaker system that has bluetooth connection to play my favorite music, free WiFi, and multi-service interactive tablets where I can order room service at anytime.
That is to give you an idea how much fun I was having with all the gadgets in the room on the comfortable bed, even it was sunny and blue sky out there.
The lounge and library area and the garden by night. They are so cosy that you just want to chill and do nothing. Even this hotel has only 37 rooms, it is made up of 2 buildings spread over 6 floors. There is also a fitness and spa area, which features a private pool and hammam. On top of that, there’s also a restaurant by rising-star chef Arnaud Faye.
Needless to say, Le Roch has ticked all the boxes of location, quality, character – a perfect spot to stay in the heart of Paris city. The staff was very attentive and friendly too, anything I asked about (down to a specific cough candy I was looking for), they could tell me where are the nearest places I would be able to find. It was really wonderful. I know wheres best to stay from now on!
